So I'm surfing about, when suddenly I think of a website I've been meaning to visit. I stare at the screen. What was that URL again? Bah, all this porn is distracting! Ctrl-W to clear that tab... dang! I've lost Phoenix!
Wouldn't an extension such that closing a tab couldn't close Phoenix be nice? (I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only one who thinks so.) You mean like TBE's "unload Phoenix when all tabs are closed" checkbox?
- Chris i think you meant "unload page when last tab is closed," since what you describe sounds like what he's trying to avoid...
That's why it's a checkbox, see. Unchecking the box means that the opposite behaviour applies, yes?
- Chris I'm afraid Ctrl+W isn't covered by the TBE Feature...
It does if you have Phoenix set to always show your tabs. Try it. It would work all the time if the menu shortcut for Close Tab was consistent.
- Chris No, it doesn't (at least not for me). I've set it to always show tabs, not to make last tab removable, and not unload the page when the last tab is closed. This way I can't close the last tab with middle-click, the context menu or the tab close button, but Phoenix still exits on Ctrl+W if only one tab is open.
Well, all I can say to that is WFM. I double-checked before I posted that to make sure. i have my prefs the same way as you and it works just the way it should.
- Chris Then maybe it's because I'm on shitty ol'Windows and you're on shiny new Linux?
![]() 'fraid not...
- Chris This sometimes works for me, and sometimes doesn't [WinXP]. It helps to clear out your Profile, and start fresh. Also, TBE updates even more frequently that Phoenix, so check for an update.
As I've said before, TBE is critical to the functionality of this browser. The combination I have to achieve what the first poster wanted is: [ ] Hide tabbar when only one tab [ ] Make the last tab removable [x] Unload the page when the last tab is closed When I Ctrl-W the last tab, I get a grey empty screen but Phoenix remains open.
yeah, but you're forgetting what the actual option says...
