Which configuration file and command for this ?

Hi everyone,
I'd like to know how I could tell Thunderbird to save my profile in my Thunderbird directory, because I'm running Thunderbird on my USB memory key from my University since our Documents folder is deleted as soon as we log out, so I lose everything each time.

Another thing I wanted to know is : where are the mails saved ? In the Thunderbird directory ? It is the same problem : I want to save all my messages on my USB key, in my Thunderbird directory.

OK, I've read better this forum and finally found an answer : I followed the advices and I made a new profile with -p as a parameter in a shortcut, and now it seems to work quite fine.
