when i log into Amazon, the search line is filled in with something i've never searched in Amazon. i delete it & it comes back within seconds, repeatedly. i can barely search for anything else. thought maybe it was an Amazon thing but it does not do this on IE. my cache & history are clear. am using FF v63.0.3 but its been doing this for a while now so i don't think the version has anything to do with it. please help!

Did you also clear Amazon's cookies? You said cache and history, but cookies may be doing it.
Do, or do not. There is no try.
yes. i clear everything after i close a window & at the end of the day. that's why i can't understand how something is stuck. also always use Private Browsing.

Sorry to hear. You didn't mention Private Browsing before (not that it should matter), but even though Firefox says it doesn't store history I even have a search phrase that always shows up in my search bar too. I clear the same things, but I can't get mine to go away. Maybe somethings broken within Firefox that clearing info does not carry over to Private Browsing. Maybe a bug report should be filed on Bugzilla?

i have several programs to clear viruses, history, cache, cookies, junk & stuff that i run weekly besides clearing FF often. i need another av program?

Adwcleaner is by malwarebytes, a reputable company. Running a reputable antimalware cleaner isn't likely to hurt, and weird things being filled in sounds similar to some malware. So it might help.
ok, already have Malwarebytes. also System Mechanic, SUPERAntiSpyware & CCleaner. those are the ones i run weekly. nothing clears Amazon search bar.

Have you installed anything lately that could have Amazon search as an "added bonus"?
What sort of man would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Apart from, say, the average voter.
"Terry Pratchett" not yet. watching MNF. will dl & run it tomorrow

Don't ask, apologies, I inadvertently nuked the post.
Yes give it a run, IME even on work computers loaded with stuff it scans fast. @Do those MNF commentators ever shut up! ![]() #KeepFightingMichael and Alex.
Iobit, sas and ccleaner dont offer advantages, spoken from several experiences. Reverse changes then uninstall.
ok, adwcleaner didn't work. i didn't even log in to Amazon & the search bar filled in with the same thing i can't get rid of.

If you don't use it for much useful, you could think about if you want to try clearing form history to see if that helps. I doubt it will.
