Darting Cursor

Sometimes my cursor darts randomly all over the screen and is very hard to control. Then after awhile it again functions normally. What is happening and can it be instantly corrected?

touch pad driver gone wild? disable all additional mouse drivers or software, have a look into windows mouse settings concerning auto lock on buttons.

Does this happen just with Firefox and/or with all other programs?
What sort of M/C? Desktop/Laptop?
Wired mouse or ?

Mouse is a Microsoft wireless.

It darts around at random times... then eventually acts normal.

I only use Firefox

By other programs, I meant does the mouse do the same thing in say, your image editor or whatever you use?
Not just Firefox.

Being a wireless mouse, have you checked/replaced the battery?
Cleaned the connections etc... May have picked up some grit/dust/grime of some sort.
Use an Electronic Cleaner, spray can for that job.

Yes and occasionally in folders and on the desktop.

Why?
Because it sounds/reads more like a mouse problem & not restricted to Firefox

If it's happening on the desktop it's not a Firefox issue but could easily be low batteries or the like. Moving to MozillaZine Tech as it's clearly not a Firefox Bug or Support issue.

The issue occurs randomly... could be up 3 to 4 times daily and lasts 2 to 5 minutes

Any further developments on these fronts Walt?

It's a simple process of elimination...Whatever is left at the end, is the cause.

Have you tried changing to the "normal" Windows mouse driver/s?

Do you have a way to see other wireless connections in your immediate area?
Can you log those to see if similar connections appear at the time of the interference?
Is your Ethernet connection closed?
If you connected through wireless does your connection show a lock or some other indication of secure?
Thought here is interference from some other wireless source.

I agree, I have a wireless Comcast Internet Modem.
Maybe my computer is haunted...

Really dumb but highly possible - did you buy a new washer/dryer/refrigerator with IoT connectivity . . .
. . . or have one of the in house snoops like from Amazon or Google?
The Register had an article a week or so ago where their little in house snoop apparently floods local wireless connections
chromecast flooding problem
Maybe a close neighbor?
