Is there any thought to keeping the old FF System some how?

Yes I am leaning towards using Firefox 52.8 ESR well after July 2018 but will wait to make a final decision at that time.
Avira freeware Antivirus / Comodo freeware firewall combo is what I will rely on, I am not sure if additional software like MalwareBytes and Anti-Ransomware software is necessary if Avira Antivirus definitions are being updated all the time... I am still unclear if any browser exploits discovered in the past year would have been enough to overcome yours and mine third party defenses if we were using Firefox from a year ago which was Fx49...

Also, you may or may not know but Windows XP updates will not end until 2019.

Saving this as a .reg file and importing it into your Windows XP registry unlocks access to WinXP security updates until 2019:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]

"Installed"=dword:00000001
Open the pod bay doors, Cortana.

Still relevant today, even if the user doesn't want to believe it.

Is he referring to the corporate updates? (sorry, I don't remember the exact term for these.) I don't think many people used that.

Yup, time to turn the key and walk away. Locking.
