SM Mail Inbox Layout Changes

I prefer to see only the "Thread Pane" and "Folder Pane" under the View | Layout for my mail Inbox. If I mark an email as JUNK, Seamonkey changes the view layout and opens the "Message Pane" in addition to the panes I selected. Really wish this wouldn't happen. I've seen this in most of the 2.x releases. I'm presently running v2.46. Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed that will prevent this?
