very poor performance scrolling a large GIF image

i converted the image to JPG and the problem went away.

trying to locate a bug for this issue.

I don't have any problems scrolling here (1.2.1)

it takes me 5 seconds to scroll down this image. and the cpu is %100
running 1.2.1 and 1.3a under WinNT

are u using windows?

i think i found the bug http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116257

it could be WinNT problem only. i tested the attached PNG image in that bug on Win98 and there weren't any CPU spikes when scrolling.
