I’m trying to publish a Mozilla calendar using:
http://icalx.com/private/czarch/my.ics

Unfortunately, I get an error that states: “publishing
the calendar file failed. Status code: 0x8000fff

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I'm looking forward to a reply to this post, cos I'm having the same problem with Calendar for Firefox *and* Sunbird standalone...

I too am looking for an answer for this error I get at .Mac which I posted in a seperate thread

The responses I have read state it is not actually an error and to check the server to see if publishing did in fact fail. Some people report it successfully published. Others are not so lucky. That is where I sit.

I came here to say I am getting the same error after updating sunbird the other day to:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.8a5) Gecko/20041217 Mozilla Sunbird/0.2RC1

I did check the icalx.com server and it did infact publish.

In my experience Sunbird and the Mozilla Calendar extension won't publish when no file already exists there. What you need to do is upload the .ics file using another WebDAV client, and then subscribe to the URL it was published at.

Make sure you configure each calendar to publish changes automatically. If you want to edit on multiple computers, set the preferences to refresh remote calendars on startup. I know it seems kind of backwards but that was the only way I could get to work.

Tried this a few different ways dn15 on a few machines and still get that same error, is it something to do with icalx.com? I've tried it from the latest sunbird, and TB calendar, all the same! I'm lucky mind you my events do publish! But I'm concerned!

Hmm, that'd odd. Not sure what to say about that...

While I was experiencing the same problem with the December build, the build released today (1-11-2005) seems to have resolved it...

Not only that, but the password manage now correctly remembers my password for WebDAV calendars! I still get prompted to press OK, but at least I don't have to type it every single time I launch SunBird!

There is hope for SunBird yet...

Please try Sunbird 0.2 RC2 (RC = Release Candidate), which came out yesterday. You can download it from <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird_download.html">http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird_download.html</a>.

That's the one I was referring to above. Unfortunately it still contains some bugs that I thought had been resolved -- such as events being marked as Private by default -- but overall it is a much more stable and usable build than any previous ones. Printing even works!

Agreed, this build is a nice improvement from the previous ones. In particular I'm pleased that it can finally save my password for publishing. :)
