I am running the latest SM under Win7/Pro x64.

Where do websites get their information about my physical location?

For example, almost any time I open the Home Depot website HD decides I want to shop a store 17 miles away (95050) when there is a closer one a mile away in 94303. I tell the store to make the closer one 'my store.' It remembers until I reboot. Things Apple assume I am in Cupertino, their 'home town.' Can I tell my OS where I am?

thanks,

The geolocation api is enabled with setting geo.enabled to true. For privacy reasons I did set it to false. Usually you are tracked by your ip location anyway.

You can try if it works here:
https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.as ... eolocation

It uses a commercial google service and we limited our key so it might fail. Without the limit we might be charged a theoretically unlimited sum by google. Not sure if Bill enabled the key in his builds. I think 1000 lookups a day are free.

Usually IP location is assigned to user's ISP location. If HQ (servers farm) is far away from user then IP (geo-)location will be incorrect.
