I get mailings from Pinterest with images they suggest i view. For the past week or three, clicking on an image in Thunderbird gets me a message that there's no application to open it. But I have no problem opening it in Outlook. How do I fix this?

Running Windows 10 Pro 21H1. Thunderbird 91.2.0 (64-bit)

Figure out what type of image file it is (jpeg, png etc.) and then set the appropriate utility to use for that type of file in the files & attachments section of tools -> preferences.

However, normally if you try to open a embedded image it should popup a window asking you what utility to use. Are these remote images (a HTML link to the image) or embedded in the message? If you're not sure see if you have a link to a remote image if you switch view -> message body as from original HTML to plain text.
