Hello

I have my archive structure set to yearly folders, however tb has randomly started to occasionally archive in monthly folders. I have checked the setting and it is set to yearly archive folders.

i am unsure what to do to resolve the issue and would apprciate any advice.

Many thanks.
Graham

How is the account set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP? Find out using menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type at the top right of the dialogue.

Right click on the name of the folder from which the messages are sent to archive and select "Properties" from the context menu. Then click on the "Repair folder" button.

Thanks Dan

That has sort of worked but thrown up another problem as it has created a new folder called 'archive' with a subfolder '2019'

This has left another folder called 'Archives' which will now be unused but does not have a delete option when right clicked.

edit. It is also archiving into monthly sub folders still

Uncheck the archive setting (Tools->Account Settings->Copies & Folders) then close and restart Thunderbird. Use that same menu path and reactivate the archive option, specifically setting the target folder to that of your choice, and under "Archive options" set it to "Yearly". Again close and restart Thunderbird and see if things are working as expected.

No, it is still archiving to the 'archive' folder even though the 'archives' folder is specified and is also creating a monthly sub folder.

Yes, but WHERE is that Archives folder located and where is the Archive folder located? On the IMAP server or on the local computer?

The Archives folder is on the imap server and visible in thunderbird, in the account settings under copies and folders in the 'Message Arcives' section- 'other' is selected and in the drop down 'Archives on Personal' is selected.

However when archiving Thunderbird is creating a new folder called 'Archive'

EDIT I have also tried selecting "Archives" Folder on Personal and it has the same result. (Still always creating a monthly sub folder)

Try changing that target selection to place the archive under Local Folders. It's possible the server is changing the folder name to comply with conventions on that side of the system.

very odd, I have made that change but it is still creating the Archive folder on the personal (Imap account and placing the email there in a monthly sub folder.
