My Mail/Website provider created problems with my mail. I had to change my settings from and to (two times) Now when I press the 'Get messages' button I get the error message that does not support encryption.

When 'Viewing settings for this account' I see as 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' When I press Edit SMTP Server I see 587 as port
In 'Server Settings' the 'Server Name' contains also Port 43 is used.
The only thing that might be a problem is that the 'Local Directory' is /home/macamba/.thunderbird/j02chv2w.default/ImapMail/

Any one suggestions?
FWIW, Thunderbird on Ubuntu

Post Posted October 17th, 2018, 4:42 am documents typical ports.

A IMAP account typically uses port 143 if a normal/insecure connection is used or if it is upgraded to a secure connection via StartTLS. If it initially makes a TLS connection it typically uses port 993. The corresponding ports for a SMTP server are 25 (insecure) and either 465 or 587 (for TLS).

Was port 43 a typo?

A link to the email providers web page where they document what generic settings to use for mail might help. Usually you only need to keep your username, email address and password private. Its recommended that you don't try to convert a POP account to a IMAP account. Instead add the IMAP account and when it works copy any downloaded messages as needed, and then delete the POP account. ... AP_account
