Hi, I just updated MacOS to Monterey (version 12.0.1).
Now, Thunderbird 91.2.1 (64 bit) doesn't list anymore unread messages in bold: both read and unread emails are shown with a regular font, so it's pretty hard to recognize them (and this is driving me crazy).
Before updating MacOS, Thunderbird worked perfectly.
Anyone experiencing this issue?
I've found other users having this issue, but the solutions didn't work for me.
Starting Thunderbird in safe mode doesn't help.

Thank you

At the moment, the only solution I found was this: install Monterail Dark 2 for TB>68 theme (https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/th ... -for-tb-68).
With this theme, unread messages are now bold again 8-)
But with default Thunderbird themes (both Light and Dark), I couldn't find a way to solve this annoying issue.

This code in userChrome might help (works with Catalina):

Code: Select all
/*
/* Change background color of unread message
*/
  treechildren::-moz-tree-cell(unread) {
      background-color: #77aa77 !important;}
/*
/* Change background color of unread selected message
*/
  treechildren::-moz-tree-cell(unread,selected) {
      background-color: #609050 !important;}

The colors shown are light green and darker green; change to suit.

Try this:

Code: Select all
/* Thunderbird userChrome.css */

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");

#threadTree treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(read) {
  font-weight: normal !important;
}
#threadTree treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(unread) {
  font-weight: bold !important;
}
#folderTree treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(hasUnreadMessages-true),
#folderTree treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(closed, subfoldersHaveUnreadMessages-true) {
  font-weight: bold !important;
}

Remember to set the toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets preference to true, then restart.

Hello,
I see the same behavior here after upgrading to Monterey. The "Monterail Dark 2 for TB>68" solution works for the messages (bold when unread) but not for the folders in folder pane, the only indication is the number of unread messages between parenthesis next to the folder name ...

This is Bug 1737791 "New mails no longer bold after Mac OS 12 update"
While waiting for the bug fix you might try the workaround with morat's userChrome.css code
