The latest update has messed up my userchrome settings (again). Only one issue:

I don't like having the tab bar visible unless there is more than 1 tab, so I have had it hidden.

The latest Firefox update shows the tab bar (although it is blank). Can anyone give me a new userchrome code to correct this?

It had one reply at the time I posted the link and by now the original poster replied "Cheers" to it.

But if it doesn't work for you, then someone else can take a look.

It works, but the code is overly-complicated and too long. It changed the color and size of the menu bar. I was hoping for something short and simple.

I really don't know much about CSS, but I went thru deleting line by line and re-starting.

I finally weeded out all the useless crap (more than half the code) and finally got it working the way it did before. Thanks.

Anyhow, I'm left with a general question: How is it that these new updates are causing CCS codes to stop working, forcing users to look for new coding?

If you switch to Firefox ESR, changes other than security come only once a year, so it is likely that userChrome etc that works will work until the next yearly.

For a couple years now, the UI is being rewritten in standard(ish) HTML and CSS instead of XUL. Due to Rapid Release after Firefox 4, this wasn't saved up for a huge single update but is dribbling out over time. Also, new features and ideas.

Could you post the code you are using after you edited out the unneeded. I also am using the VERY large css to control the tab. This almost doubled the size of my userChrome css.

Thanks
Richard

Yeah, that reddit code was over 50 lines. It more than doubled my UserChrome. Anyhow, check below:

Code: Select all
#tabbrowser-tabs, #tabbrowser-tabs > .tabbrowser-arrowscrollbox, #tabbrowser-arrowscrollbox{ min-height: 0 !important; }

:root:not([customizing]) #tabbrowser-tabs .tabs-newtab-button,
:root:not([customizing]) #tabs-newtab-button,
:root:not([customizing]) #TabsToolbar-customization-target > .toolbarbutton-1,
:root:not([customizing]) #TabsToolbar .titlebar-button{
  -moz-appearance: none !important;
  height: 0px;
  padding-top: 0px !important;
  padding-bottom: 0px !important;
  -moz-box-align: stretch;
  margin: 0 !important;
}

:root:not([customizing]) #TabsToolbar-customization-target > .toolbarbutton-1 > .toolbarbutton-icon{
  padding-block: 0px !important;
  max-height: 28px;
  height: 20px !important
}

#tabbrowser-tabs .tabbrowser-tab{ height: var(--tab-min-height) }

#tabbrowser-tabs .tabbrowser-tab[first-visible-tab="true"][last-visible-tab="true"]{
  visibility: collapse !important;
}

I can't really make that switch. I use a portable version of Firefox and I don't think anyone has made a portable version of ESR.

You're welcome!

What is the real difference between the normal Firefox and Firefox ESR?
