In the past I remember a way to edit a loaded webpage real-time and in-place.

That means after loading in browser I mark a certain text phrase and press <DEL> key to delete it or enter some other text. The new text overwrites at the place where the marked text appeared before.

Similarly I can remove images and buttons by just mark and delete them.

But how can I achieve this?

I prefer NOT to use the AddOn "PageHacker" but a different AddOn.

Bookmarklets may do some of what you're wanting (something like, Click2Zap.)
(I've never actually used that one, till now.
zap images removes (all) images.
(I've got a different bookmarklet [in a different] Profile, that I believe allows selection of an individual image & will remove that.)

(In the 'ol days, there was NukeAnythingEnhanced [still there for some ;-)], but since you're on Quantum...)

- Open Web Console (Ctrl + Shift + K). Type this and press Enter:
Code: Select all
document.body.contentEditable = true

Click anywhere on the page to write/delete/whatever. When you're done, run
Code: Select all
document.body.contentEditable = false
