Can one restore the state before the last update some hours ago?

Most / many of the add ons do not work anymore.

That's old news, around here at least. You can try simply reverting to an older version of Firefox, perhaps 52ESR by downloading and running the installer from here -- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/o ... tions/all/

Yes, yes, it was not intended to give new news. Thank you for the link. I have a portable version. May be I could just overinstall the last version.

Firefox Portable isn't made by Mozilla, it's from PortableApps and is allowed to use the Firefox logos / TradeMarks by Mozilla.
Firefox Portable Edition works very differently from the official Firefox version.
Installing an older (or any version for that matter) Firefox version won't use your current Firefox Portable Profile.
IOW, all your data and customizations won't be in the new Portable installation.

Firefox Portable has their own support fora over here:
http://portableapps.com/forums/support/firefox_portable
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

I would have thought it is the same version but being portable and that there wouldn't be any reason to make it very different. Why is it?

Thank you for the link, I will ask there.

And the link I posted was to information and a download link for the ESR version.

Yes, thank you very much, I had looked at it. The ESR version is for installing (not usable in portable mode), only, isn't it?

The folks at Portable Apps seem to be providing only for the current Release version of Firefox, not for the ESR version. That's likely because ESR is aimed toward enterprise users who probably don't look for the portability.

Good to hear. I hadn't noticed. Haven't been to the Portable site in some time.
