I'm using Firefox 3.0.14 on a Mac under Tiger 11.

For quite some time - over several Firefox versions - I've noticed that Firefox refuses to display some links or images that exist on a page, leaving the space blank. In fact, this very page, at

mode=post&f=38&sid=71accb5081379b8cb935ddb06500f3d6
has is an example: the Confirmation Code image is invisible in Firefox, forcing me to use Safari instead. Another example is when I visit Amazon.com and go to the page of a book (any book) I wish to purchase. The 'Add to Cart' rectangle is invisible. The space where it should be is blank, but when the pointer goes over it, the pointer turns into a pointing finger, indicating a link, and the link does work. But on an unfamiliar page I have no idea what I'm not seeing because it is invisible.

In all cases I'm allowing pop-up windowss (as exceptions to blocking them), and have Firefox Preferences set to 'Load images automatically', 'Enable javascript', and 'Enable java'. I also have 'Accept cookies from sites' checked, but 'Accept third-party cookies' is turned off.

Could somebody suggest where the problem is and how to solve it? Thanks.

Using Adblock or Noscript ? Either has been known to 'hide' stuff...

Yes, I'm using both of those. So there're bugs in these programs that prevent showing things even when permission is given? Should have thought of that possibility.

I'll test it out. Thanks.

The cart system is probably using a script... try disabling NoScript first. If the problem persists, place the AdBlock stop sign on your toolbar and enable the AdBlock dialog which will show you what it is blocking on any given page. You can unblock various things and reload the page and see what's causing it... but I would place NoScript as the #1 suspect.
That's alot of grains of salt huh?

Hi,

I am new at using Firefox and I also have this problem, it appeared from one day to the next. How do I know if I'm using any of these programs stated above? And if I am, how do I disactivate them? Although I'm on Vista SP3 (or 2? well the latest. My version of Firefox 3.4.5.

Thanks in advance for any clues!

Update: turns out I don't have AdBlock after all - not with this version of FF.

I do have NoScript, but discovered that disabling it makes no difference at all.

So I guess I'm back at square one. Any other thoughts?

Did you try to clear your cache after disabling it and reload the page? You might also consider bumping up to Firefox 3.5, 3.0 was too buggy for me and I abandoned it as soon as 3.1 was in beta.

Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > Content: Load Images: Exceptions

A way to see if images are blocked is to click the favicon ("Site Identification" icon) on the location bar and click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window (Tools > Page Info) and go to the "Media" tab.
Select the first image and scroll though the list with the down arrow.
If there is a tick mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Enter the code exactly as it appears. All letters are case insensitive, there is no zero.
