Netscape 7.1 minus the AOL junk -- half the download size, starts much faster and works much faster!

Yeah -- I'd actually say it was faster than Seamonkey.

Interesting Idea...
Too bad there's no more development being done on Netscape...
The reason I hated it was because of all the AOL bloat...

One problem with using it though: I'm sitting here using the 7.02 streamlined and if you check the "about:Netscape" you'll notice that it's based upon Mozilla 1.0.2. Do I really want to go back that far when I have 1.5b?

Just food for thought.

Hmm... well, I was using Netscape 7.1 Compact, which was based off Mozilla 1.4.

You can get it from here:
http://www.holgermetzger.de/net7comp.html

I assumed it was the same as the SillyDog701 version (as you download the holgermetzger.de one from SillyDog701. Maybe not, lol.

Thanks for providing me that link hartlandcat! I went and visited that website instead of sillydog's streamlined and downloaded the compact. Interesting version. Talk about loading fast! And that even without the Quick Launch!

The one thing that I didn't like is that it shared my Mozilla profile and tried to make changes to my 1.5b. My way of solving that, however, was to just create a new profile and they've since seemed to run independently of one another.

Oh yeah... another thing that I didn't care about was in HTML mail requiring left indents. It still does the /blockquote format instead of pixels. I think I have one of the few "working" copies of Mozilla that functions correctly in that an indent is handled via pixels and not /blockquote. Some people can't get it through their heads that /blockquote is for quoting of text to offset it for a webpage NOT for margin indents! GRRR! If I didn't have a disability that prevented me from learning I'd place in the patch I have from mscott into every version of Mozilla Mail/Thunderbird I download.

Oh well, as we French-speaking Indians say: "Rien est parfait!"

Again hartlandcat, THANKS for the link! I likewise bookmarked it and plan on returning frequently to check for updates, etc. By the way, I wrote this while using 7.01 Compact. ;)
