I would like to canvas opinion on the desirability or otherwise of purchasing and installing an external hard disc.
There have been a number of comments in the 'computing' press recently, regarding the advisability of backing up your entire system, perhaps to this method.
So far, I have transferred all of my photographs and important documents to DVD's but the length of DVD's life is now being questioned. And I have never backed up my whole system.
So - opinions and advice please, To back up or not to back up and by what method?

This has nothing to do with Thunderbird. Since you are not registered, I can't move this to the proper forum, so I am moving it to Miscellaneous Support.

It depends on your discipline in backing up, but I couldn't live without my external harddisks (and not only for backups).
