Error on 4th gmail account -thunderbird the current operatio

I set up Thunderbird on my first lap top. 3 gmail accounts worked fine; the fourth gave error "thunderbird the current operation on inbox did not succeed unknown command".

All parameters and passwords are correct. I deleted the account and recreated it but still came up with the same error. I tried all suggestions given on this forum but none worked.

I then set up the account on my second PC which also runs under windows 10 and this worked, so it is not a gmail problem.

Here are the Trouble shooting parameters for both PCs starting with the PC which has the error:

The account giving the problem is account7:

The imap parameters are the same as the account which works.

Unfortunately few people noticed this post. Its in the wrong forum, Thunderbird bugs is a very low traffic forum only for discussions about confirmed bugs (in the Bugzilla database). I moved the thread to Thunderbird Support, which is the appropriate place to ask for help.

If IMAP support in the mail server is disabled it will not understand any IMAP commands sent to it by Thunderbird.

Did you double check that IMAP support was enabled in the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab in the settings for the corresponding google account? It's disabled by default. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Gmail

Thanks for transferring my problem to a different forum.

All four gmail accounts are set up in exactly the same way and I can confirm that IMAP support is enabled.

As I mention in my write up: "I then set up the account on my second PC which also runs under windows 10 and this worked, so it is not a gmail problem"

I suggest you copy the profile (the working one with a single account) from PC2 to PC1 in a different location than the existing 4 account profile, and tell Thunderbird where that profile is per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_p ... hunderbird . You're not replacing the original profile, you're adding a second one. Then use the profile manager to select the second profile, and see if it still has the same problem.

You've already eliminated the google settings as a suspect. There is nothing that seems wrong with the PC1 profile settings, but this will help identify if it really is due to something wrong in the profile or not. If the second profile (which only has one account) on PC1 has the problem, then I suggest you enable IMAP logging and post the line with the "current operation on inbox did not succeed unknown command" error plus a dozen lines immediately before that error from the log file. I don't need the whole log file. The log file does not contain your password and has garbled references to your email address (so a spammer's spider should ignore it as it won't recognize a email address).

One reason for doing the IMAP logging on a copy of the second profile (which has only one account) is to avoid confusion caused by Thunderbird intermingling logging of all of the accounts. The other reason to use a known good profile is to try to identify what could be the culprit by the process of elimination.

When you're done you can use the profile manager to select the other profile, and ignore the existence of the second profile.
