I've tried numerous builds of Thunderbird, and, while POP3 works fine over SSL, I just can't get SMTP to work under SSL. I believe I've tried every combination of settings.

Does anyone have a clue?

Thanks.

What, if anything, do you have checked under "Use secure Connection (SSL)" at

Tools -> Account Settings -> Outgoing Server (SMTP)?

Other than the server name, I've got:
Port: 465
User name and password: checked
User name: blahblah
Use secure connection (SSL): always

I've tried all options to no avail.

BTW, I tried Moz 1.4RC2 and got the same result in the MozMail program.

Any ideas?

Try clearing the port number (after writing it down somewhere). :-)

Also, try changing the SSL setting from "always" to "when available".

What does it say?
What are the error messages?
Do you get any warnings?
Have you accepted the certificate?
Does your firewall allow you to make connections to needed port?
