I'm torn between bug and feature-request on this one, but anyway...

The account setup wizard, which appears when I start with a new profile, doesn't allow me to specify when to use SSL (for either IMAP or SMTP), which means that I have to setup my account, click "Stop" when it tries to connect to port 143 (blocked by a firewall), edit the account settings to turn SSL on, then fiddle around to get it to retry the connection.

Not too major, but should be fixed at some point...

The problem is if the wizard asks if you want to use SSL fro secure connections, every newbie is going to check the box, because of course they want their email to to be secure, but many mail servers don't support SSL.

So is it better to shield a clueless user than enable a sensible one ?

No, but I don't buy the argument that I should be inconvenienced in order to save some click-happy idiot. Why can't the option say something like:

"Use SSL? (only select this if your server supports it) [ ]"

?
