Recognise this feeling of OEHPS after sending a mail unintended or with the wrong phrases in it?

In outlook express all my mail went into the outbox before really sending it.
In Thunderbird one can use the Ctrl-Shift-Enter choice, but what a hassle afterwards to really send the mail from the outbox.
Can this be done a bit easier?
1) By adding a choice either to send mail directly or via the outbox
2) By making sending from the outbox simple doing it with a Send button

If all this already exists in Thunderbird then I apologise for not having read the manual properly and I would be obliged if anyone can point me out how to configure Thunderbird accordingly.

Thanks

Are you using menu path File->Send Unsent Messages to send those messages from the Outbox?

[Editted]

Implemented in version 3 as of beta 4 via https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440794. It is, however, experimental. It must be prefed on, mailnews.sendInBackground is false by default, and restarted, and there are still issues to be resolved per https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511079.
