As of ver. 92 or so, by default PDF attachments now render inside Thunderbird. OK, you can go back to the old method (choose your external viewer, or Save), which I did.

However, in some cases I would find it more efficient to use the internal viewer. So, how 'bout:

- Open with: <app>
- View inside Thunderbird
- Save File

?????

If you go to Preferences > General > Files & Attachments and set the Portable Document Format (PDF) item to "always ask" would that solve your problem?

Thanks for commenting. Unfortunately, I've already set it to "always ask."
