I think SM has a bit to go yet, but I can see why people here might be confused -

You are entitled to think what you want but unless you see an official announcement it isn't.

Well, that's clear enough....or is it? -

No. I would have worded it differently because it is about releases. Unlike ewong thinks about himself I don't think he at fault

Last sentence is clear to me and not a death notice. Anyway it is quibbling about words.

I currently get 4 sites saying the Firefox 5.2 platform of SeaMonkey is out of date so I must use other browsers. Any idea if the platform will be updated so I can keep using SeaMonkey? Or, is this the beginning of the end?

Thanks to all who tried to help. I had looked at all that OLD information before I asked what none of that addressed: if you had any idea whether there is a plan for the Firefox platform be updated so SeaMonkey will be accepted by these sites and is not seen as an out of date browser.

Apparently the answer is you do not know although it took a lot of other wording for you to indirectly say that. I choose to not use workarounds because of many reasons, mainly the browser should work correctly if I am to trust it.

Thanks again for those answers which were kind.

It'll be the beginning of your end around here if you don't learn to use Advanced Search before posting.

There are numerous threads on this going back over 2 years. Here's one - viewtopic.php?p=14756885#p14756885

Then again, you seem like the kind of guy who chooses to not use workarounds because of many reasons, mainly the browser should work correctly if you are to trust it, so maybe just try another browser instead?

The browser does work correctly. It perfectly renders the content fed to it.
The websites are actually the side of this exchange which is behaving incorrectly, and intentionally serving unusable sites to visitors because they don't recognize the browser name..

Where does 2.53 fit into the scheme of things?

See https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/StatusMeetings for details. 2.53 is only in a few languages - English, maybe German. Other than that, that link says it has no major bugs. Website compatibility with 2.53 may be better than 2.49.x, but if you are using new Firefox as your user agent maybe you won't have trouble with 2.49 anyway. 2.49.4 is the current official release and in all languages. 2.53 was not intended to be released officially because of translation issues, but for an English user you can try it, you may like it. When 2.57 is released, compatibility with extensions may be not as good as the current, although efforts will be made.

After 2.49.5 new plan is to make SeaMonkey 2.53 interim release until next big one (2.57) will be ready. But there are some problems with localizations. I hope we will get 2.53 soon... [-o<

Will there be new releases? SeaMonkey is my favorite web browser and cause of history it's one of the important programs that should be saved for the future.

Yes there will be new releases. Unfortunately I/we can't commit to a date even if this statement wears thin now.

The unofficial 2.49.5 should be ok.

Same for the 2.53 but because this is still undergoing changes always save the last working version in case something breaks.
