Merges were completed today!

  • comm-central is now on 48.0
  • comm-release is now on 45.0
  • comm-esr45 is in sync with comm-release

Hmm, THUNDERBIRD_38_7_0_BUILD1 has been tagged. Thus, we may see another round from comm-esr38 before moving to 45.x (unless that's meant for organizational users only, but I thought those builds are no longer explicitly made).

To answer my own question, I've just got an offer to update to 38.7.0 from my current 38.6.0 installation, thus there is a continuation of that branch for "normal" releases.

Expect the 38/45 release dance to be similar to 31/38. Namely, there will continue to be a few more 38.x releases. And 45.0, when it gets released, may well not ever be offered for automatic update, with automatic updates wiating til 45.1.

But there's no schedule or plan set in stone - circumstances and the best interest of users will dictate how things get rolled out, when, and in what release.

comm-central remains closed due to a variety of bustages over the last 10 days, see https://public.etherpad-mozilla.org/p/thunderbird-tree-status for the full list (and yes, that's long...).

No. There is generally no coordination/depedencies between version 45.* and 38.*. They simply appear when they are ready.

THUNDERBIRD_38_7_1_BUILD1 has been tagged yesterday, apparently to catch some fixes from the Core side (I see some graphics hotfix) as there are no comm-esr38 specific landings (other than a blocklist update for -again- the flash player). When the Linux maintainers see that a release is tagged, they prepare their own builds to have them ready to push once the official release announcement is out.

Oh. Perhaps Arch meant these to be two separate sentences and unrelated ideas. In any event, 45 has no schedule. I.E. will be released, and of course announced, when it's ready for widespread public consumption
