Is there any hope of a MacOS X build of Thunderbird being released soon? The last one was based on Mozilla 1.3. There have been many great improvements since then. I would love to be able to use Thunderbird and Firebird with each other instead of the Mozilla Application Suite.

Volunteering? I only have a windows machine so I will not be producing OSX builds.

I can volunteer. I have a working build environment on a G4/350.

However, Firebird is building using obj-dir, Thunderbird is not. :-(

If I had any clue as to what I would be doing I would be volunteering. However, I fear that my level of expertise would do more harm to the open source community than it would good.

I'm in the same position. I've been quietly waiting for an OSX build to show up soon. I'm using it now, but not enjoying it as much as I'm sure the linux and windows people are. I'd volunteer, but since I'm a graphic designer I'm of absolutly no help. So, does this mean that no one is currently working on it?

I too have been waiting patiently for a new OS X version to download, and as someone else mentioned was their own case I have insufficient expertise to be of much help at present. Is anyone working on this?

working (at least on my machine, OSX 10.2.5). If someone want it, make me know. Better if you have an ftp or so to upload it once for all. I have some problem with Themes on this build (a little ugly), but managed to use OrbitRetro (without addressbook button, but we cannot have everything, right? :)). Sources are 9 may 10:15 GMT+2.

If you send me the FTP info I would be happy to give it a try. I am currently using Firebird as my browser and would love to be able to use Thunderbird that is based on 1.4 code.

Thanks to Tofa, we now have a OSX build to play with. I put it up in a directory on my website for others to play with for now until something else shows up. The address is:

That's strange. It's working for me.
Maybe you should try trashing your preferences for 'minotaur' in your library. I've had bizarre querks get resolved in Camino by trashing it's prefs.
The only new feature I can see is that it lets you customize the tool bar. Still can't get a skin to stay after the program restarts.

is the performance of this build any better than the first OS X build that was released? I used that one for a while, but the overall slowness ultimately drove me nuts.

Hi Tofa,

thanks for your osx builds but on my mac os x 10.2.6 they crash at the first start up. I did some crash debugging and I think I found one of the errors.

First Thunderbird.app complains that I don't have a libiconv2.dylib installed. After installing version 2.0.4 Thunderbird complains that this version is too hig.

Here is the crash log in the console when starting up thunderbird030510 build.
dyld: /Volumes/Daten/Users/erichoch/Desktop/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin version mismatch for library: /usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib (compatibility version of user: 4.0.0 greater than library's version: 3.0.0)

there's an all.js hack required

comment out :

// pref("general.skins.selectedSkin", "classic/1.0");

Thank you... I needed some time to find the ldd-equivalent under OSX (it's otool -L )... here is the report:
rom-dhcp-38:Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS] gt86031% otool -L thunderbird-bin
thunderbird-bin:
@executable_path/libmozjs.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0)
@executable_path/libxpcom.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0)
/usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib (compatibility version 4.0.0, current version 4.0.0)
@executable_path/libplds4.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0)
@executable_path/libplc4.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0)
@executable_path/libnspr4.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0)
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 63.0.0)
/usr/local/lib/libdl.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Carbon (compatibility version 2.0.0, current version 122.0.0)

So I link over a libiconv.2.dylib... the "real one" on my system is libiconv.2.1.0.dylib (this one is not "fink installed").

I'll try to rebuild the beast with ac_add_options --enable-native-uconv in .mozconfig and I'll make you know if this one works.
