TBird asks me for donation as they are not supported by Mozilla. But last time I sent a sub I had a receipt from Mozilla. What is the actual situation, please?

Any help loved.

The Thunderbird donations web page is hosted by the project but uses the Mozilla backend to process the donations. That's why you get a receipt from Mozilla.

"Contributions go to MZLA Technologies Corporation, a California corporation wholly owned by the Mozilla Foundation. Funds will be reserved for use in the Thunderbird project. Contributions are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions."

The Thunderbird project is currently the only project of MZLA Technologies Corporation. That subsidiary was created to give the project more freedom to create business opportunities. That was over a year ago. So far all they seem to have done is found a replacement for Tucows in the menu command to buy a new account.
