Here is a sample HTML signature template that can be easily converted to your personal or business use. This is what the template will look like in Thunderbird.

Image

After saving the template to a file, view the template in your browser, and then edit the html code using any text editor to replace the variables with your own information. Example: Replace the words "First Name Last Name" in the html code with your own name. After making changes view it again in your browser.

NOTE: The html will NOT show up exactly the same in your browser as it will in Thunderbird. The browser may well interpret the line spacing differently than Thunderbird. The template is designed to look best in Thunderbird (not your browser).

Once you have the template filled-in. Then you have two ways to use it in Thunderbird.
Method 1.
1. You can copy the complete html code from your text editor, and then
2. Go to "Tools | Account Settings and click the box for HTML Signature and then paste the entire HTML code into the HTML signature block. Click OK and you are done. Next time you click write your new HTML signature will appear.

Method 2.
1. Save the html signature template somewhere appropriate.
2. Go to "Tools | Account Settings and click the box for use an HTML signature file, and fill in the path to your HTML signature.
Click OK and you are done. Next time you click write your new HTML signature will appear.

A few technical notes for those so inclined.

Note the use of alternative font names. The fonts you like may not be installed on the recipients computer. Using alternate font names allows you to better control how the signature looks on others computers.

Note the use of percentages for font sizes. I've found that recipients using different computers are far more likely to maintain your selected font sizes if you use percentages instead of actual points or pixel sizes. This is especially true for extra small font sizes. Also, using a font size below 60% may well result in the recipient's computer using a 100% font size instead of the size you specify.

You can tell how your signature went through to someone else's computer by seeing how it comes back to you in the "quote" section of replies from the recipient.

Here is the HTML template code. Just save it as a text file with an .htm or .html extension. For windows probably better to use a .htm extension.

Code: Select all
