I thought there was the 4 Gb limit, but I will notice that it goes far beyond that.

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Limits_-_Thunderbird (link will be slow but the wiki is back up)

The 4GB limit was finally removed starting with Thunderbird 51. Folders are allowed to grow beyond 4GB by default on current systems. However, I strongly recommend against having a 4GB or larger inbox as inbox folders are the most vulnerable to corruption (due to the number of deleted messages and people not compacting often enough). The larger the file the more work it would be to recover messages if it gets corrupted. Move most of the messages you want to keep to other folders/child folders.

Using maildir (instead of mbox - what you'e using) eliminates any possibility of a corrupted folder because each message is stored using a separate file.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm the only In the office with this version, 60, all other for other reasons, are under version 51 so they have to create child folders due to the limit of 4gb.
I had not yet noticed this change.
Thank you again :)
