After recently poking around with Microsoft Edgium, I realized that they have the same expanding locationbar. Looking at Chrome screenshots, its also there as well. Mozilla is following the trend but it looks worse for some reason.
Latest: Firefox/83.0 *ESR/78.5.0 - Mobile/81.1.5 - Thunderbird/78.5.0
Nightly: Nightly/85.0a1 - Mobile/GV 85.0a1 - Daily/85.0a1

I have no expanding locationbar on last canary build of Edge or Chromium (just highlight).

But, this megabar begins to annoy me. Now there is text resizing ? So, you want to modify a part of a url and with a click, boum, wrong part of the url selected. Try again... Great. #-o

I've seen it expand when typing into it, not when clicking on it.

Ok, I saw it. It's still much more nicely done than the megabar...

So, I disabled text resizing by toggling "browser.urlbar.update1.expandTextOnFocus" to false.
