it doesn't appear in the preferences. if it doesn't work with the right mouse button, try the left. if that's not your problem (or if this causes a problem...) go read this. the extra preferences are mostly useful (as far as i can tell) just for getting to the mouse gesture and radial context preferences (since you don't get to see them in the normal preferences...)

Try installing if from here:

http://texturizer.net/phoenix/extensions.html#gestures

The only problem I have is when I try to open a link in a new window, it doesn't submit the request -- it just opens the new window with the URL.

You should try Strokeit. It permit you to create your own gestures:
-rock feature
-navigate through windows
-select search field
-et., etc.
StrokeIt: http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/
My phonenix config file: http://www.lexique.org/public/mozilla.cfg

optimoz mouse gestures (if working) are cross-platform, AFAIK Strokeit is Windows only, not a lot of good to a lot of us : )

personally, I've never really got on with mouse gestures, radial context otoh is quite good, haven't looked into Phoenix support recently ...

Is there any way to have a "rocker gesture" which supports multiple clicks (e.g. hold down left and click right multiple times)?
Because with the gestures plugin only clicking once is supported and that is kinda annoying when you are used to Opera.

How do you configure the mouse gestures, it doesn't seem to put an entry in preferences in phoenix the way the screenshot says it does for mozilla. All I want to do is try and add a modifier key, but I can't find where it is configured...

I'm brand new to Phoenix today, but I think I've just figured out how the gestures extension is supposed to work. I could be wrong about everything, but here goes:

1) After installing and restarting, "Mouse Gestures" should appear under Extensions in the Themes and Extensions category of the Preferences panel. It can be disabled here, but cannot be configured from here. Nothing else visible will happen.

2) Contrary to the screenshots at http://optimoz.mozdev.org/gestures/ "Mouse Gestures" will not appear anywhere in the Advanced category of the Preferences panel. Although the extension works with Phoenix, this part of the documentation is Mozilla specific.

3) It is possible to reach the configuration options for "Mouse Gestures" using the funny link chrome://communicator/content/pref/pref.xul This link (which by default cannot be clicked on, but must be copied and pasted into the menu bar) gives you access to the original Mozilla preferences panel. If you look under Advanced, you should see "Mouse Gestures".

4) The configuration changes you make using chrome://communicator/content/pref/pref.xul are not used by Phoenix. They are thrown away, ignored, and only serve to tempt you. It may be possible to configure things by editing some files in the chrome/mozgest directory, but I haven't tried that yet.

5) It should not be necessary, however, to configure "Mouse Gestures". By default, it works without modifier keys using the Left button. In fact, modifier keys seem to be ignored, which is to say that the gesture will work anyway, modifiers or not. There seems to be no time limit on gestures: as long as you hold down that button, it will keep trying to interpret.

6) You can tell that it is working by the notation "Mouse Gesture" that will appear in the status bar when you hold down that Left button and move the mouse. It should track your motions with the letters R,L,U,D for right, left, up and down respectively. According to the docs, diagonals are recognized, but dealt with on some later pass.

7) If the series of motions you make matches one of the gestures that it knows, it should perform the action indicated on the chart

At least, that is how it is working for me. It's possible that this is due to my particular setup: Linux 2.2.16, Phoenix 0.4 and MozGest 0.3.4. Your mileage may vary. Tax, title, etc.

Mouse Gestures prefs are broken. The problem is known by the author, and he said he'll try to work on it. See http://surfmind.com/musings/categories/ ... 1.cfm#a376

Ok thankyou :)
BTW I know the gestures work, I was asking if you could ADD a modifier key, so that gestures don't work without the key pressed, but it is a moot point without the conifgs :0 I can wait.

Yea I'd really like to get them working as well. Since I can't change the modifier key I won't install gestures. I don't need phoenix jumping around just because I want to select some text. If anyone figures out how to hack in a right click or other modifier please post. Having to right click->back or click on the back button on the browser bar is a real pain in arse once your used to gestures or using the side buttons on your mouse with IE.
